Today I read an interesting article in the “Tiroler Tageszeitung” (Ausgabe vom
21.Juni 2009, Seite 2 der Beilage “Leben”) about how young people are living
a life of high expectations and high pressure that they put themselves under,
and how this might pose a danger to society.
What I think though is that it is quite feasible and possible to teach
individuals how to act under high preassure without burning out. Actually I even
believe that this skill will become essential in our society sooner rather than
later, and a standard school curriculum should include such topics. Also, like
reading and writing, a skill that is recognized as widely essential to be able
to function as part of our society, stress manegement is skill that can be
applied universially to many many situations. Just think of it, what are
sitatuions that invoke the feeling of stress and pressure? Situations where we
are overwhelmed, where our skill set is incomplete, or situations that we are
unfamiliar with.
Learning how to deal with such sitations is not a skill that persons are born
with, they can be taught and learned, just like reading, writing and math. Just
like anything human beings do actually.
And also, this knowledge is not really secret or obscure, or needs any research.
Professions and groups that are dealing with high stress situations on a
regular basis developed curriculums to prepare their applicatiants long, long
ago. Just think of military services, police and special forces, but also
firefighters, pilots etc.
Learning to act in high stress situations is probably best thought through a
combination of theoretical foundations and practical experiences, and once you
start to understand the basics its actually quite a lot of fun.

Hi,
With all the sports-equipment always laying around, I figured the following idea might make an attractive addition to anyones apartment:

The Idea is that of a Sports Utility Chest, which has organized Drawers for different kinds of sports. Ideally each drawer would be organized into compartments so that every piece of the gear has its place. But of course, it would be necessary to have the chest properly ventilated, so that running shoes that are still a little sweaty can dry properly.
Eventually this idea is a little bit inspired by our brave fellow Sportacus.

aktiv hinarbeiten sollte.

And just right after a long train ride home from Prague, I decided to also attend the Barcamp in Innsbruck. I came late on Sunday, because it already started on Saturday, but never the less, I managed to squeeze in another talk about Mobeedo and also managed to demo the app on a real T-Mobile G1 Android Phone.

Hi there,
I just returned from Prague, and it was a helluva lot of fun. Met new friends, interesting people, saw a beautiful city and peculiar places, heard lots of clever presentations from inspiring individuals, climbed a gate, lost a train, learned something I did not know, promoted Mobeedo, enjoyed performances, used the metro, ate Czech food, played a game, talked to someone who dated someone who was a relative of someone how did something about which a movie was made that I saw.
Want to know more? Talk to me.
Ok, what did I do? Rob from CIANT emailed Mobeedo, Mobeedo sent me to Prague for the enter4, at the same time fet09 took place, so I went there as well. Saw mobvis and IPCity. I liked the Closed Project. Talked to Jan from Útia about object detection in biology. Was totally amazed by Johns ideas about a Metaloger, and heard a curious story from XLterrestrials. Had fun coming late to a dinner with a friend. Learned about the Complex Systems Society.
So much about Prague in a very condensed form, oh, and did I mention that I was in Parma the week before?
Some Pics on my new Flickr
Have fun,
Cheers
