Project VGA, a project which aims to develop a Low Budget, Open Source, VGA Compatible video card.

I wonder whether it would be possible to use this hardware to create a FPGA based compositing engine for image scaling and alpha blending, and then meddle some modlines and use something like in this VGA to SCART Converter to get a decent preview on a TV-Monitor? Would be interesting to create a small, low-power standalone video editing solution, that can be plugged right into a TV.
It sure is possible,
But who will do it?
btw. this brings us to another interesting issue, which is syncing to the refresh rate of the video hardware, which is nicely implemented for different APIs in the file vsync.c from mythtv, this could enable smoother playback of video, provided that the rates of source and output match somehow.
Cheers,
and have fun

Update: TV-Out Mojo happening, but people seem to care more about VGA Resolutions than native TV-Resolutions.
